Understanding SEO, The Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How

Understanding SEO is an essential part of properly marketing your business in the digital world. To understand (SEO) Search Engine Optimization, we need to understand the fundamentals of a search engine and its role in marketing your business.

The three most common search engines that we know are Google, Bing, and Yahoo. We have more search engines; however, these are the most commonly used. There are other types of search engines as well, and they focus searches primarily on their networks. Some examples would be YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn. However, we will focus on Google as it has 92.47% of the market share as of June 2021

Google Best Bang For Your Buck

In a simple form, Google is the place where you connect your business, i.e., a website, with potential new and existing clients. When you are looking for an “Italian Restaurant near you,” you type that phrase into Google, and the search engine will produce a list of the most relevant answers to your question. This list is known as the SERP Search Engines Results Page.

(SEO) Search Engine Optimization is the process of taking your website and improving it with various techniques to improve the ranking on the search engine’s results page. If you can improve to the first page of the search, you have a 95% greater chance of being seen than on the second page. Also, if you can be in the first position of that page, you enjoy a 28.5% Click-through-rate vs. the second position falls to 15.7%, and the further down the rank, the lower the percentages fall.

Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How

The Who is anyone looking to connect with customers and potential customers should have an SEO strategy in place. The What will refer to some goals, such as generating potential leads or promoting a product or service. The Where is understanding which platform (Google, Bing, or Yahoo) will work best for your digital marketing plan.

The When is relative to time. We want to get you in front of as many people as possible. Knowing your customers and their habits will give you a distinct advantage. It also will take time to move up the ranks, so if you need immediate results, we will need to look at other options and SEO. The Why is simple; if potential customers are not finding you, they will be going to your competitors for your products or services.

Lastly, The How is where we come into your strategy. Let Phoenix Digital handle the SEO, and you control the increases in business.
